Creating and Managing Discussion Groups
Each discussion takes place in a discussion group. The forum administration has to set up the discussion group, i.e. create it and assign its group administration. Then, the responsability of the newly created discussion group is handed over to this group administration.
They have to write the initial question, thus depicting which questions should be answered by participating in this discussion group.
Creating the discussion group
Enter the name and a suitable description of the discussion group.
- Number of reviewers
- This setting enables the review workflow of contributions entered during the discussion in this group. Zero reviewers means that the contribution can be published without review. Thus, the review workflow is disabled for this group. Selecting one reviewer means enabling the review workflow. Thus, publishing of the contribution is done by the reviewer and not by the contribution's author.
- Group is private
- By default, opened discussion groups (see discussion group lifecycle) are present in the list of available discussion groups for that members can register to such groups if they want to participate in the discussion. However, if you want to hide a discussion group from this list, you have to mark it private by checking this box.
- Public to level
- If the forum configuration allows guests (i.e. anonymous users) to read the discussions in the groups, you can limit the read access of guests. If you set the public level to 0, this group will be completely invisible to guests. If you set the public level to 1, guest will be able to read only the group's starting question. If you set the public level to 2, guests will be able to read both the group's starting question and the first level of follow up questions.
- Minimal group size
- With the minimal group size, you can control how many members have to register to the discussion group until the group becomes active (see discussion group lifecycle).
